The Celtic Ultra & Celtic Trail Races - 1st December 2018

The Celtic Trail Races are three stunning high level trail running races following the Coed Morgannwg Way. The Coed Morgannwg way is a dramatic route following ancient tracks of Celtic origin, with amazing views across the Brecon Beacons, The Black Mountain, South Wales Valleys, and South Wales Coast . The route goes through woodlands, pastures, moorland and mountainsides. It is a fast, fun, runnable route following some of Wales hidden trails.  

There are 3 race distances to choose from-

-The Celtic Ultra- a 32 mile linear route from Aberdare Country Park to Margam Park.

-The Celtic Trail Race is a 21.5 mile linear route from Glyncorrwg to Margam Park.

-The Celtic Trail Half Marathon is a linear half marathon route from Afon Argoed Forest Park to Margam Park.

All courses are FULLY MARKED.

Start Times

The Celtic Ultra Starts at 0800.

The Celtic Trail Races Starts at 1030.

The Celtic Half Marathon Starts at 1100.  

Checkpoints

There will be 5 manned checkpoints for the Ultra, 3 for the 21 mile Trail miler and 2 for the half marathon. They will provide refreshments including water, flat cola, sweets, biscuits & crisps to keep you going.  

Transport

As the route is linear you will need to either get dropped off and picked up or park your car at The Finish at Margam Park and catch one of the busses provided to the various race starts.  If you want to catch the bus you need to select this option when you sign up. You will be able to leave a drop bag at the start that will be transported to the finish for you.

Time Limit

All courses close at 6pm giving very generous time limits for the event as set out below-

Ultra- 10 hours, Trail 21- 7 1/2, Half -7 hours  so it is suitable for anyone who can maintain a good running/walking pace of 3.2mph. There are generous cut off times- we give you 4 hours on the ultra and 7 hours on the Half marathon to get to 13.5 miles!

Races Options and Prices

There are three race distance options available for competitors. For the inaguarl event there are 150 spaces avalaible for each distance. There is also the option of adding coach transport from the finish to the start.
