Rasus y Bannau (The Beacon Races) are a mountain lovers dream!  3 epic, long distance running races starting and finishing in Brecon and following a circular route around the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.  There are 3 race distances: 100k with 5100m ascent, Ultra (75k) / 3500m ascent and 26 miles / 2000m ascent.  All routes take in the Bannau with the Ultra and 100k travelling into the wilds of and the Fans of Fforest Fawr including the fearsome Fan Gyhirych!

The inspiration for the logo & motto comes from Welsh Mythology.  Arawn, king of the otherworld realm of Annwn, rides in the skies in early spring with the Wild Hunt.  His hounds, the Cwn Annwn, chase the unworthy & wrongdoers into the ground until they can run no longer!  They are reflected in the logo as hounds with red eyes.  The motto is part of the old folklore saying for Arawn - "Hir yw'r dydd a hir yw'r nos" or in English "Long is the day and long is the night" all of which seems appropriate for a tough mountain races!  The time limit for the 100k and Ultra is 24 hours, one day to outrun the hounds...
